Integrating HIV and other health services

HIV services are often delivered through dedicated, vertical programmes. This systematic review and meta-analysis brought together evidence from studies worldwide to understand what happens when HIV services are integrated with other health services, and vice versa.

Integration was broadly associated with equal or improved outcomes, including for HIV testing, treatment initiation and retention, as well as for the co-delivered services. The findings offer guidance on where integration is most promising, and where dedicated delivery still matters.
