Visceral leishmaniasis transmission hotspots

In the heart of India, visceral leishmaniasis (kala-azar) poses a significant public health threat. We identified persistent hotspots of new cases through detailed geospatial and statistical analyses, despite a general decline in incidence.

These hotspots were often in low-resource areas and included older individuals at high risk, providing crucial insights for targeted interventions in Bihar.
